DIR/Floortime™ Program
DIR/Floortime™ is an evidenced-based intervention method that has been successfully used with individuals with a variety of developmental disabilities since the early 1970s. Our clinic-based DIR/Floortime™ program provides parents with one-on-one support and training from a DIR Certificate Candidate to facilitate development through a better understanding of your child’s individual strengths and weaknesses. This program is appropriate for addressing a variety of challenges including:
- early intervention needs
- sensory processing weaknesses
- regulation
- maintaining shared attention
- self-help skills
- social interaction skills
- communication skills
- motor skills
Our clinic-based Floortime™ program begins with an evaluation to determine your child’s strengths and weaknesses among functional developmental levels. The results of this assessment are used to develop an individualized intervention program to address the unique needs of your child. Once a plan has been developed, Floortime™ sessions can be provided daily, weekly, or monthly depending on the needs of the family and typically last 90 minutes. Sessions involve parents in order to foster supportive interaction patterns and provide a safe arena to learn and practice newly learned skills.
We are also developing a “Remote” Floortime™ program for those families who live in areas where services are limited.
